Think of a plush five star banquet, high-end brands and an eclectic theme based decor : that’s Funky Fish for you. After the first two editions of Enchanted Garden and Dream Catcher, this year’s theme was “Patakha Pop”. The brands were a mix of apparel, jewellery, footwear, skincare and sweet treats.
What made this couture event unique was the fact that most of these brands had options for customisation like personalised footwear, chocolates, soaps and food hampers. Also loved that they tried to make it a holistic experience by adding a stall from Tarot Tales. Some of the participating brands were Outhouse Jewellery, September Spring, Weave In India etc.
“Jhalak” : A Hindi word which means ‘glimpse’, and a glimpse into lifestyle and societal trends is what I get at these expos. This one was held in the plush banquet of hotel Holiday Inn, Jaipur. With the festive season coming up, it was the perfect place to shop for ethnic outfits, jewellery, accessories, shoes and a lot more.
These exhibitions with their colourful textiles, beautiful ornaments and quirky accessories give you a chance to witness the real India that comes alive in her streets. There were shoes with Ajrakh and Kalamkari prints, Meenakari done on fabric jewellery, Phulkari embroidered bags and so many traditional crafts conceived in a contemporary manner.
Exploring India is incomplete without food and this is where these expos should work on. Jaipur has so many traditional delicacies to offer, adding them would make it an amazing experience.
Another expo in the pink city, but with a very elaborate and eclectic decor. Shopping is such a great experience amidst such vibrant spaces and with so many unique things to choose from. It was an amalgamation of apparel ranging from gotta patti to block prints, embellished footwear and quirky juttis, handbags and ornamented clutches, mobile covers, semiprecious jewellery and even some organic cosmetics.
Enjoy the pictures :
We have a separate category for all the expos that happen in Jaipur, here’s the link . Do follow us on Facebook and on Instagram.
It is very gratifying to cover the new edition of an expo, which you have covered before. It’s like a journey that you have completed as an experience collector and nothing can be more rewarding. As the name suggests, Lagan Mandap is all about the glitz and glamour of wedding shopping. Here’s the link to the previous edition of this blogpost . This time the exhibition was held on a much larger scale with lots of participating stores and beautiful fresh flowers based decor.
One could find everything needed in a wedding under one roof. There were a plethora of semi-precious jewellery stalls, embellished clutches, sarees, Indo-western gowns, lehengas, footwear and a lot more. Also they had some very eclectic gift wrapping and packing stuff, which is a very important part of wedding preparations.
Wood + Geek – the combination appears to be quite an eccentric one. They are geeks with a passion for all things wooden and are trying to break the conventional image of wood by exploring it beyond its traditional uses. There is the usual walnut, bamboo, mahogany, rosewood, teak etc, but used in a plethora of bohemian ways. An artist truly has a wild mind and a disciplined eye.
Woodgeekstore offers an eclectic collection of customised wooden posters, journals, notebooks, pens, bow ties, phone cases, sunglasses along with cover. Imagining wood in such an unconventional manner speaks volumes about the creativity of the Woodgeeks team. Moreover, these products are the perfect thing to gift- eco friendly, quirky and personalised with a design or message of your choice.
I didn’t face any issues while ordering stuff from their website. Cash on delivery is available for non-customised products and it takes about a week for the stuff to get delivered. For personalised items, they do share a digital mockup for the customer’s approval and then it is actualised.
Here’s what I ordered-
1. Personalised sunglasses cover-
These can be an ideal gift- creative and economical. The cover looks good, can be personalised and is very sturdy.
2. Personalised sunglasses along with a free customised cover-
There are various styles available- wayfarers, round, aviators etc and you also have the option of choosing the wood of your choice from rosewood, bamboo, mahogany etc. Full marks for creativity but I am not so content with the quality of the glasses used, the wooden frame is good and given that natural is the new cool so the sunglasses look super chic.
Hope you enjoyed our review of the Woodgeekstore, it is our constant endeavor to bring such creative stories to you. Ciao 😍
I was drawn to the chic packaging of L’Oréal’s new infallible gel nail paints. These nail paints are comprised of two liquids – a colour base coat to resist dulling and a gel based top coat to magnify colour and shine. They are intended to provide a salon like finish to nails and a 14 day chip free wear without the need for UV lamps.
Presently, these are launched in four shades – Painty Pink, Mon-Drian Red, Blue Pallet and Mixy Violet. I purchased the red and the blue shade. Here’s the review-
very smart packaging, ideal for gifting.
can be easily removed with nail polish remover.
the top coat adds a luminous glow to the nails.
lasts longer as compared to normal nail paints.
quite cheaper than getting a gel based manicure from salons.
priced at 495 rupees for 10 ml.
doesn’t fulfil the 14 days chipping free promise, last for about 5 to 6 days without getting chipped.
Global Desi – The name aptly represents the contemporary Indian woman, whose style is a unique amalgamation of tradition and ultramodern. The brand offers an eclectic mix of Kurtis, dresses, palazzos, skirts, tunics etc which are made by combining the Indian techniques of block printing, dying, embroidery with some chic silhouettes.
They work closely with traditional artisans to create exquisite ensembles and gorgeous handcrafted jewellery – paying homage to the supreme craftsmanship of India. The brand stands for a simple, beautiful thought – fashion is for everyone, everyone has a fashion.
When it comes to fragrances, I prefer subtle ones which keep you fresh and at the same time prevent the person sitting next from getting a headache 😂. That’s the primary reason I mostly choose mists over perfumes for everyday use, fragrance that feels as if it is organically emanating from the body gives a much better impression and delights the senses too.
So how about having a nail paint that gives a vibrant shade to your nails and also emits a soothing fragrance, this is what these scented nail enamels from Revlon are meant to do. The aromas range from Bordeaux to fresh linen, here we are reviewing the African Tea Rose –
gives a smooth-matte finish.
light, enticing fragrance that lasts for about 4-5 hours after drying.
cute packaging, combining the look of nail-paint cum scents. Easy to carry.
starts getting chipped after 1-2 days, can’t be compared with the lasting power of a gel nail paint.
Overall Rating – 9 on 10
Loved the concept, and would definitely recommend it as a product to be used for special occasions.
I bought this scented nail enamel from Jabong for 389 rupees. Hope you have an amazing day ahead ❤️
In our previous blogpost, we took you through a plethora of striking charms present at the Delhi Haat, now is the time to brief you about our shopping haul, we behaved like harridans, haggling about prices with the shopkeepers to drive a hard bargain 😂😂. It was better than shopping at an air conditioned mall, bargaining is an inherent talent present in all females 😉So here’s a look at the stuff I purchased from the Haat, total amount spent = 1300 rupees 1. Oxidised Silver Bangles– Bought these two oxidised silver bangles, one with a knick-knack and one without. I tried them together and found the combination perfect. They can go with Indian as well as western outfits, since silver jewellery is the trendiest thing these days. I am in love with the bohemian-rustic appeal of silver jewellery. Price = 200 rupees. 2. Oxidised silver tribal earrings– loved the shape, intricate work and overall appeal of these earrings. You do not need to wear any other accessory along with them, one should never overdo accessories and always let one piece be the striking part of your look. These earrings add just the right amount of glamour and can be paired with almost any outfit. Price = 150 rupees. 3. Beaded Hairband – The girl at this particular accessories stall was wearing this kind of a beaded hairband and it looked really chic so I decided to take one for myself, loved the peach and gold combination. It can even be used as a choker. Price = 100 rupees.4. Footwear– Metallic and turquoise, the combination was too good to resist. And the fact that they were super comfortable flats was the icing on the cake. All three of us bought one pair each 😂. Price = 400 rupees. 5. Clutch– I was looking for a beige-nude tone clutch from long, and this one had a perfect mesh of orange and pink floral embroidery. It is not too blingy yet glamorous in a subtle way. Price = 450 rupees. Here’s what my friends purchased from the Haat-
1. Embroidered Kaftan– Anjali purchased this beautiful sheer kaftan, it can go with jeans, palazzos, leggings, skirts and can even act as a coverup over a bodysuit for beaches. We loved the vibrant colour and the versatility of the outfit. Price =700 rupees. 2. Tribal Coin Necklace- Again a versatile piece, which can complement a number of outfits. We all seem to be in awe of silver jewellery 😊. Price = 500 rupees.3. Earrings- Sweta purchased these beautiful oxidised silver earrings, we loved the info-western vibe of these. The quintessential jhumkis combined with an abstract shape structure. Price = 200 rupees. Hope you enjoyed the sneak-peek into our shopping haul at the Delhi Haat, keep following us on Facebook and Instagram. Lots of love ❤️❤️
In our previous brand review- blogpost, we introduced you to a unique styling service for women called Snobbox. We took you through the entire procedure from placing the order to getting your snob box, which is personalised as per your conversation with their stylist.
So here we are unraveling the details of what all did my snob box contain, there were 3 main sections- jewellery, apparel and handbags. The box also contained a detailed list of all the items sent with their pricing, all you have to do is simply login to their website and select which all items you would want to keep and pay for them online. The entire process was hassle-free and after 2 days the return pickup was arranged where in you just need to return the stuff you do not wish to keep, along with the return shipping labels already provided in the box.
1. The accessories were a mix of tribal themed earrings and neckpieces in silver/golden metallic tones, they were quite up to my expectations, since I had asked for accessories with a bohemian touch.
2. The apparel section included- a shirt embellished with pearls, an off-shoulder top, an Aztec print top, a white crochet top, a black basic flare top. I was happy with the variety offered, all pieces were different from each other. But the fabrics were bit of a concern; given the humid weather, I cannot imagine wearing polyester or other synthetic fabrics.
3. There were 3 kind of bags sent across in the box – a black sling bag, a grey backpack and a cream flap handbag. I really liked the sling and the flap bag, the backpack was a bit of a disappointment. I decided to keep the sling bag and return the other two.
Here’s the detailed list of all the stuff sent in my snob box –
Overall Experience- A very interesting concept and a flawless execution, I was satisfied with the accessories and handbags, though would definitely want the brand to improve their apparel offerings. I would recommend Snobbox to all our readers, as you get to experience something very unique at a nominal price and within the comfort of your home. I will be placing a new Snobbox order soon 🙂
India is the cradle of human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grandmother of tradition. Our most valuable and most artistic materials in the history of mankind is treasured up in India only.
India is not just a place, not just a country of people. It is the celestial music, and inside that music anybody from any corner of the globe can find the real significance of life. My gratitude to those heroes of past who gave us the freedom and to those who are guarding our freedom.
Let’s rejoice in happiness and indulge in celebration, saluting the ones who made it possible, who made India stand high and mighty, let’s make them our inspiration.
This is how we celebrated the spirit of freedom –
Here are some more Independence Day pictures which I clicked or got to see on social media –
So what does Independence mean to you? We would love to know in the comments section below 🙂
It was through a Facebook advertisement that I came to know about – Snobbox , a first of its kind styling service for women. The phrase “styling service” intrigued me into finding more about the brand. Snobbox is an online shopping platform but what differentiates it from other shopping portals is the feature of trying things at the comfort of your home and then paying for whatever you like. So it is giving you the experience of shopping at a store sans the traffic and effort.
It is a novel concept and full marks to the founders for coming up with this idea. Snobbox gives you the facility of speaking to a stylist and letting her know about your taste in clothing, accessories, etc. Here’s my step by step experience with snobbox –
Step 1 – Placing the order
I placed my order on 22nd July through their website, which is quite user friendly. It takes you through a questionnaire regarding your fashion preferences, sizing details and what you would not like to see in your snobbox. You can even upload a picture to help their stylist in understanding what would be apt for you. Once you are done with all this, a styling fee of 180 rupees is charged to confirm the order. You will receive a confirmation mail for the same.
Step 2 – Call from Snobbox stylist
I received a call and an email on 26th August from Rashi, who is one of their stylists. She enquired about my style preferences in terms of jewellery, bags and apparel, which I would like to see in my snob box. I briefed her that I am looking for vintage/tribal style jewellery, a backpack style in handbags and monochromes in apparel. She took a note of my preferences and apprised me that best possible stuff will be sent as per my taste and that I would receive my snobbox in 3-4 days.
Step 3 – Snob box received 🙂
I received my snob box on 1st August, Apart from the accessories and apparel, it consisted of a handwritten note from the stylist, return shipping label and a detailed list of all the items sent along with their prices. You get 48 hours to decide whatever you want to keep from the box, after that the return courier request is automatically scheduled.
So this was part 1 of my experience with Snobbox, what all did the box contain? The mystery will be unravelled in part 2 of this blog post 😉
The gangster theme is all about capturing the underworld of infamous hoodlums and flashy showgirls by getting dolled up in Jazz Age inspired attire and accessories. The more glamorous and embellished the better, so go all out in a head to toe sequin gown or try a more exotic style with an Asian inspired cheongsam dress. Make your entry in a long, wide-collared fur or faux-fur coat. Add Art Deco- inspired jewellery such as dangling earrings and bracelets, wide rhinestone chokers and necklaces. Fishnet stockings and mid-heel Mary Jane shoes will look period appropriate with any dress.
Another trend to consider is “animal print”. It is generally expensive and considered rather exotic, hence a symbol of wealth and status. It totally is a style of power dressing and gives you an aura of that uber rich tycoon. Add dramatic makeup, sunglasses and drape a scarf to bring that shady quotient.
No true Indian can underestimate the power of Sholay- and when it comes to gangster theme costumes, it doesn’t get better than this. Whether you want to keep it on the low like Thakur or barge in like the terrifying Gabbar(Sans the horse, of course:) – the movie doesn’t let you down. Other famous Bollywood movies from which looks can be tried- Vaastav, Omkara,Sarkaar,Once upon a time in Mumbai, Gangs of Wasseypur, Rangoon, Satya, Agneepath etc.
Here are the pictures from the party-
Hope you are following our updates on Instagram and Facebook. A very interesting contest coming soon 🙂
I recently ordered some stuff from a shopping portal called “Krafted with Happiness” and decided to share my experience with you. I came to know about the site through Facebook and i was super happy to see the “pom-pom scarf” in their collection ,which i was looking for from a long time. I keep browsing through lots of such shopping portals for style ideas but what enticed me into ordering from this site was super affordable pricing and unconventional designs.
After placing the order, i received a confirmation call from the site about my order. I had placed a “cashon delivery” order for which they charge additional 40 bucks per item. The package arrived within two days of placing the order and was in perfect condition.
I had ordered for a “pom-pom parade scarf”(price – 399 rupees) and a “majestic mandala ring”(price -399 rupees). They also give you a discount coupon for first time order. Both the products met my expectations and i am planning to order some other drool-worthy stuff soon.
The brand offers a panoply of accessories, footwear, bags etc all having an Indo-contemporary vibe. One more appealing factor is the hassle-free shopping experience on their user-friendly website. And unlike certain labels which do not allow you to return accessories, this portal allows you to return a product if it does not meet your expectations. I also liked the way they have given eccentric names to each of their products, which definitely lends a unique charm.
